What Is Andropause?

Ladies – if your man looks like the one below, perhaps he’s got some hormone balancing to manage!

Gentleman – perhaps there is an actual physical reason for the energy you seem to have lost.

Andropause is the male version of menopause. It’s caused by a reduction of the male hormone testosterone.

When I went to look it up on the internet one of the symptoms included falling asleep in front of the TV. Ha!

Pretty classic- don’t you think ?

The medical approach to Andropause is hormone replacement therapy, the risk of which, could cause prostate cancer. Often Dr’s will treat additional symptoms separately, however treating one thing like depression – a common andropause symptom with drugs can actually exasperate the sexual dysfunction men also experience with andropause.

From a nutritional consulting perspective I have assisted many woman through menopause – but not a single male has ever inquired about andropause and the natural approach.

It’s like a big mystery.

Andropause symptoms include:

  • Decreased mental quickness and sharpness
  • Decreased energy, strength and endurance
  • Less desire for activity and exercise
  • Decreased muscle and increased body fat
  • Mild to moderate depression and irritability
  • Depression and/or loss of eagerness and enthusiasm for daily life
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Decreased sexual function and/or sensitivity
  • This website speaks to the fact that men being men and all, really don’t discuss this concern. It’s not the manly thing to do, men don’t need help being male. Please note that I am not endorsing the products mentioned on this site, how could I ? I have no experience with them, however I did find this site very informative.
